Illinois Roundup lawsuits demand maximum financial award in MDL

A multi-district litigation (MDL) filed in Federal Court provides Roundup cancer victims an opportunity to file a streamlined claim for financial compensation.

Illinois Roundup cancer lawsuits filed in the MDL are individual lawsuits.  They are NOT part of a class action.  While the MDL format allows each client to retain control over their own case and potential cash settlement, the MDL provides the added benefit of streamlined discovery and disclosure.

Moreover, this discovery process will require Monsanto to disclose certain documents and information regarding their business operations.  Specifically, Illinois Roundup lawsuits demand copies of Monsanto’s research and development related to the Roundup product.

Illinois Roundup cancer lawyers are demanding disclosure of what Monsanto knew about carcinogens in the Roundup herbicide.  With evidence of Monsanto’s knowledge, it could be proven the company acted in a negligent or reckless manner by failing to adequately warn users of the risk of cancer.

Our Illinois Roundup lawyers only charge a fee if you receive a settlement or cash award.

Chicago Illinois Roundup Lawsuit Settlement Attorneys

Bayer, the parent company of Monsanto (the original manufacturer of Roundup), has faced numerous lawsuits by Illinois Roundup lawyers.  These cases allege that Roundup’s active ingredient, glyphosate, contributes to cancer, specifically non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma.

As of 2021, Bayer announced plans to settle a substantial portion of the Illinois and national Roundup lawsuits for a total amount of around $10.9 billion. This Roundup settlement was expected to resolve a significant portion of existing Illinois claims.

Compensation for Future Victims

Bayer also proposed the creation of a compensation program to address future Illinois lawsuits related to Roundup exposure and cancer.  The program aimed to provide compensation to individuals who developed non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma after using Roundup.  However, despite the settlements, Illinois Roundup lawyers continue to bring claims related to Roundup exposure.  Moreover, some individuals may choose not to participate in settlement programs and pursue individual lawsuits instead.

Scientific Evaluation of Glyphosate

The scientific community remains divided on the association between glyphosate exposure and cancer.  While some studies suggest a potential link, regulatory agencies such as the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) have maintained that glyphosate is not likely to be carcinogenic to humans when used according to label directions.
